Automatic Import via Cron Job

How Does the Import Work Without a Cron Job?

Section titled “How Does the Import Work Without a Cron Job?”

WP-ImmoMakler uses WordPress’s built-in cron mechanism (WP-Cron) for automatic imports. How does the automatic import work? Without a cron job, the import is only triggered when someone visits a page on your website. The import then runs until all data has been transferred — or until the server’s maximum execution time is reached. If the import is interrupted, it resumes from where it left off on the next page visit.

This means: without regular website visits, the full import may be delayed — especially with many properties or large images.

Set up an external cron job that periodically calls the following URL:

https://your-website.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron

Replace your-website.com with the domain of your WordPress installation. An interval of 1 to 5 minutes is recommended.

Many hosting providers offer a built-in cron job management feature in their control panel. Enter the URL mentioned above and the desired interval there. If you have any questions about this, please contact your hosting provider’s support team — they should be able to help you. If needed, we are also happy to contact your hosting provider directly and explain what is required.

If your hosting provider does not offer its own cron job management, you can use a free online service such as cron-job.org. Create a new job there with the URL of your WordPress installation and the desired execution interval.

The Improved Cron plugin is compatible with WP-ImmoMakler and ensures reliable, regular execution of the WP-Cron system.
