FIO WEBMAKLER WordPress Plugin: Import Properties Automatically

WP-ImmoMakler is the WordPress plugin for FIO WEBMAKLER: it automatically transfers your properties from FIO WEBMAKLER to your WordPress website via the OpenImmo interface.

  • A FIO WEBMAKLER account; your FIO account manager takes care of the export configuration
  • The FTP credentials of your web server — you can obtain these from your web host
  • A WordPress website with WP-ImmoMakler installed; the plugin automatically creates the transfer directory /openimmo/

Setting Up the OpenImmo Export in FIO WEBMAKLER

Section titled “Setting Up the OpenImmo Export in FIO WEBMAKLER”

To configure the property export from FIO WEBMAKLER, contact your FIO account manager. Have your FTP credentials for the /openimmo/ directory on your web server ready.

Configure the following fields in FIO WEBMAKLER:

  • Portal name: A descriptive name, e.g. “Website”, “Homepage” or your domain name
  • Provider ID (Portal): Any number — typically “1” if you are the sole provider
  • Subdirectory: By default /openimmo/ in the WordPress root directory. If WordPress is installed in a subdirectory, enter the full path from the FTP root, e.g. /clickandbuilds/app/wordpress_1/openimmo/
  • Scope of properties: After the initial transfer you can switch to incremental sync to reduce data volume. A full sync transfers all properties — including unchanged ones
  • Property limit: Determined by your WP-ImmoMakler license (BASIC: 30 properties; PLUS: 50, 100, 250 or more properties)

If you have any questions about the setup, please contact support.

FIO WEBMAKLER exports your properties as an OpenImmo file via FTP or SFTP to the /openimmo/ directory of your website. WP-ImmoMakler checks this directory regularly — most reliably via a server cron job — and processes new files fully automatically: new properties are created, changed ones are updated, and properties removed in FIO WEBMAKLER are also removed from the website.

All images, floor plans, and documents from the export end up in the WordPress media library. The plugin can then delete processed files automatically, on request with a success notification by email — the details are controlled by the import settings.

Frequently Asked Questions about FIO WEBMAKLER and WordPress

Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions about FIO WEBMAKLER and WordPress”

What happens to sold or rented properties?

Section titled “What happens to sold or rented properties?”

That is up to you: with the option “Mark properties flagged as sold/rented as reference properties” under Settings: Import, brokered properties remain visible on the website as references. Otherwise, the behavior depends on your export: if FIO WEBMAKLER sends a deletion command or no longer transfers the property, it disappears from the website. For more details, see Displaying reference properties.

Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?

Section titled “Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?”

Yes. All attachments from the OpenImmo export — photos, floor plans, PDF documents — are automatically imported into the WordPress media library. Image quality can be adjusted under Settings: Import; from WP-ImmoMakler PLUS onwards, images can additionally be converted automatically to the space-saving AVIF format.

Do I need to do anything else after the setup?

Section titled “Do I need to do anything else after the setup?”

No. Trigger a one-time full export in FIO WEBMAKLER so that the complete inventory is transferred — after that, synchronization runs automatically. You do not need to log in to WordPress for this.

What happens if I delete a property in FIO WEBMAKLER?

Section titled “What happens if I delete a property in FIO WEBMAKLER?”

If FIO WEBMAKLER transfers a deletion command or a full sync without the property, it is also removed from your website. You can exempt reference properties from this — with the option “Ignore deletion commands for reference properties” under Settings: Import.
