immotion WordPress Plugin: Import Properties Automatically
WP-ImmoMakler is the WordPress plugin for immotion: it automatically transfers your properties from immotion to your WordPress website via the OpenImmo interface.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- An immotion account with an activatable OpenImmo export (portal interface)
- The FTP or SFTP credentials of your web server — you can obtain these from your web host
- A WordPress website with WP-ImmoMakler installed; the plugin automatically creates the transfer directory
/openimmo/
Setting Up a Portal Interface in immotion
Section titled “Setting Up a Portal Interface in immotion”Navigate in immotion to the export settings and select “Add Portal”. Enter the FTP or SSH credentials for your web server.
Configure the following fields:
| Field | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Portal name | “Website”, “Homepage” or your domain name |
| Provider no. | Any number, e.g. “1” |
| FTP directory | /openimmo/ in the WordPress root directory |
Note on the FTP Directory
Section titled “Note on the FTP Directory”If WordPress is installed in a subdirectory (e.g. via Click & Build), you must enter the full path from the FTP root, e.g. /clickandbuilds/app/wordpress_1/openimmo/. You can find the exact path by contacting your web host or web developer.
The /openimmo/ directory is created automatically when the plugin is activated.
Reference Properties
Section titled “Reference Properties”To display already brokered properties as references on your website, please read the article “Displaying Reference Properties”.
If you have any questions about the setup, please contact support.
How the Automatic Import Works
Section titled “How the Automatic Import Works”Once set up, immotion transfers an OpenImmo file to the /openimmo/ directory of your website with every export. From there, WP-ImmoMakler takes over: the plugin processes incoming files automatically, creates new properties, updates changed ones, and removes properties that were deleted in immotion. For a reliable rhythm, a server cron job is recommended.
Photos, floor plans, and documents from the export are automatically imported into the WordPress media library. Whether processed files are deleted afterwards and whether you would like to be informed by email about successful imports can be configured in the import settings.
Frequently Asked Questions about immotion and WordPress
Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions about immotion and WordPress”How quickly do changes from immotion appear on the website?
Section titled “How quickly do changes from immotion appear on the website?”As soon as immotion has transferred a new export to the /openimmo/ directory, WP-ImmoMakler processes the file during the next import run. How often immotion exports is configured in immotion; the import frequency on the website is determined by the cron job.
What happens to sold or rented properties?
Section titled “What happens to sold or rented properties?”That is up to you: with the option “Mark properties flagged as sold/rented as reference properties” under Settings: Import, brokered properties remain visible on the website as references. Otherwise, the behavior depends on your export: if immotion sends a deletion command or no longer transfers the property, it disappears from the website. For more details, see Displaying reference properties.
Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?
Section titled “Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?”Yes. All attachments from the OpenImmo export — photos, floor plans, PDF documents — are automatically imported into the WordPress media library. Image quality can be adjusted under Settings: Import; from WP-ImmoMakler PLUS onwards, images can additionally be converted automatically to the space-saving AVIF format.
Do I need to do anything else after the setup?
Section titled “Do I need to do anything else after the setup?”No. Trigger a one-time full export in immotion so that the complete inventory is transferred — after that, synchronization runs automatically. You do not need to log in to WordPress for this.
