Empro WordPress Plugin: Import Properties Automatically

WP-ImmoMakler is the WordPress plugin for Empro: it automatically transfers your properties from Empro to your WordPress website via the OpenImmo interface.

  • An Empro account with an activatable OpenImmo export (portal interface)
  • The FTP or SFTP credentials of your web server — you can obtain these from your web host
  • A WordPress website with WP-ImmoMakler installed; the plugin automatically creates the transfer directory /openimmo/

Navigate in Empro to Settings > Portals > Add Portal (available at https://empro.ai/settings/estate/marketplace).

Enter the FTP or SSH credentials for your web server:

  • Portal name: A descriptive name, e.g. “Website”, “Homepage” or your domain name
  • Subdirectory: By default /openimmo/ in the WordPress root directory. If WordPress is installed in a subdirectory, enter the full path from the FTP root, e.g. /clickandbuilds/app/wordpress_1/openimmo/
  • FTP port: Default is 21
  • SFTP/SSH port: Default is 22

To display reference properties on your website, create an additional portal interface in Empro that exports to the /openimmo/referenzen/ directory. WP-ImmoMakler recognises this directory and automatically marks the contained properties as references.

Further information can be found in the article “Displaying Reference Properties”.

If you have any questions about the setup, please contact support.

Empro exports your properties as an OpenImmo file via FTP or SFTP to the /openimmo/ directory of your website. WP-ImmoMakler checks this directory regularly — most reliably via a server cron job — and processes new files fully automatically: new properties are created, changed ones are updated, and properties removed in Empro are also removed from the website.

All images, floor plans, and documents from the export end up in the WordPress media library. The plugin can then delete processed files automatically, on request with a success notification by email — the details are controlled by the import settings.

Frequently Asked Questions about Empro and WordPress

Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions about Empro and WordPress”

How quickly do changes from Empro appear on the website?

Section titled “How quickly do changes from Empro appear on the website?”

As soon as Empro has transferred a new export to the /openimmo/ directory, WP-ImmoMakler processes the file during the next import run. How often Empro exports is configured in Empro; the import frequency on the website is determined by the cron job.

Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?

Section titled “Are images, floor plans, and documents transferred?”

Yes. All attachments from the OpenImmo export — photos, floor plans, PDF documents — are automatically imported into the WordPress media library. Image quality can be adjusted under Settings: Import; from WP-ImmoMakler PLUS onwards, images can additionally be converted automatically to the space-saving AVIF format.

Do I need to do anything else after the setup?

Section titled “Do I need to do anything else after the setup?”

No. Trigger a one-time full export in Empro so that the complete inventory is transferred — after that, synchronization runs automatically. You do not need to log in to WordPress for this.

Can I use Empro in parallel with other sources?

Section titled “Can I use Empro in parallel with other sources?”

Yes. WP-ImmoMakler processes several sources at the same time — e.g. Empro in parallel with an ImmoScout24 account or with properties created manually in WordPress. The inventories of the individual sources are synchronized separately from each other.
