Yoast SEO

WP-ImmoMakler includes a comprehensive integration with the Yoast SEO plugin. The connection is activated automatically as soon as Yoast SEO is installed and enabled. No additional configuration steps are required.

Google search result with SEO title and meta description for a property from WP-ImmoMakler

When Yoast SEO is first activated, WP-ImmoMakler automatically sets appropriate default values for the property custom post type and all property taxonomies:

  • Archive page: Title %%pt_plural%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
  • Detail view: Title %%immomakler_seo_property_title%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%, Meta description "%%immomakler_property_title%%" %%sep%% %%immomakler_seo_property_description%%
  • Taxonomy archives: Title %%immomakler_seo_termname%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
  • Status and features taxonomies are set to noindex

WP-ImmoMakler registers the following custom variables that can be used in Yoast title and meta description fields:

VariableDescription
%%immomakler_seo_property_title%%Automatically generated SEO title for a property (e.g. “3-room apartment for rent in Berlin”)
%%immomakler_seo_property_description%%Automatically generated SEO description (e.g. “Apartment for rent in Berlin: 3 rooms, 51 m2 living space, built in 1998, balcony, fitted kitchen, elevator.”)
%%immomakler_seo_termname%%Generated term title for property categories
%%immomakler_property_title%%Property title as transferred from the real estate CRM software
%%immomakler_seo_termname_plural%%Plural form of the current property type (e.g. “Apartments” for “Apartment”), falls back to the singular form if no plural form is set

The %%immomakler_seo_termname_plural%% variable outputs the plural form of a property type (e.g. “Apartment”) on its archive page (e.g. “Apartments”). Plural forms are already built into the plugin for every property type WP-ImmoMakler creates and require no further configuration in the backend.

Use %%immomakler_seo_termname_plural%% in a Yoast SEO title or meta description template for the property-type taxonomy, e.g. under Yoast SEO > Settings > Categories & tags > Property Types.

Breadcrumb navigation paths show the hierarchy of a page within your website. Google evaluates these paths and can display them directly in search results. WP-ImmoMakler fully supports the Yoast SEO breadcrumb feature.

Navigate in WordPress to Yoast SEO > Advanced > Breadcrumbs and make the following settings:

  1. Select the taxonomy to appear in the path between the “Properties” archive entry and the respective detail page — depending on your property offering and SEO strategy, property types, locations, usage types, or marketing types are suitable.
  2. Set the starting point for taxonomy list views to “Properties”.
  3. Enable the breadcrumbs.
  4. Save the settings.

Displaying Breadcrumbs in List and Detail Views

Section titled “Displaying Breadcrumbs in List and Detail Views”

WP-ImmoMakler can display Yoast SEO breadcrumbs above and below the property pages, provided the active theme does not already output them independently. The setting is available in the backend of your website (wp-admin) under WP-ImmoMakler > Settings > SEO/AEO/GEO:

  • Show breadcrumbs in list view
  • Show breadcrumbs in detail view

Reference properties can be automatically excluded from the Yoast SEO sitemap. This happens when the setting Link reference properties in list view is disabled.

You configure the structure of the SEO title and SEO description in the backend of your website (wp-admin) under WP-ImmoMakler → Settings → SEO/AEO/GEO, along with the display of price information. The following filters override these settings in code — an overview of all template filters can be found under SEO Title and SEO Description.

// Add price to SEO title
add_filter( 'immomakler_seo_show_price_title_desc', '__return_true' );
// Omit object ID from permalink
add_filter( 'immomakler_permalinks_append_objectid', '__return_false' );
