OpenImmo WordPress Plugin: Property Import for WordPress
WP-ImmoMakler is the WordPress plugin for the OpenImmo import: it receives properties from more than 80 real estate software systems via the OpenImmo interface and publishes them automatically on your WordPress website.
What Is OpenImmo?
Section titled “What Is OpenImmo?”OpenImmo is an open XML standard for exchanging property data. Almost all German real estate software solutions support this standard and can export property data in OpenImmo format. WP-ImmoMakler processes these exports and transfers the data automatically to your WordPress website.
How Does the Transfer Work?
Section titled “How Does the Transfer Work?”The real estate software exports your properties as OpenImmo XML files and transfers them via FTP or SFTP to a directory on your web server. WP-ImmoMakler reads these files regularly and synchronises the data with your WordPress database.
The default directory is /openimmo/ in the root directory of your WordPress installation. This directory is created automatically when the plugin is activated.
FTP and SFTP Connection
Section titled “FTP and SFTP Connection”For the transfer you need the FTP or SFTP credentials for your web server. Enter these in your real estate software under the portal settings:
- FTP / FTPS / FTP with TLS: Port 21
- SFTP / SSH: Port 22
Which connection type you use depends on the capabilities of your web host. SFTP is the more secure option and is recommended if your host supports it.
Full Sync and Incremental Sync
Section titled “Full Sync and Incremental Sync”Most real estate software solutions support two transfer modes:
Full sync: All properties are transferred in their entirety. Properties not included in the transfer are marked as deleted on your website. A full sync is suitable for the initial population of the website or after a software change.
Incremental sync: Only newly created or modified listings are transferred. This reduces the amount of data and relieves the server load. Deleted properties are removed via a separate deletion instruction in OpenImmo format.
WP-ImmoMakler processes both variants. Please refer to the documentation of your real estate software to find out which variant it uses.

Portal Name and Provider Number
Section titled “Portal Name and Provider Number”In your real estate software, you assign a portal name (e.g. “Website” or “WP-ImmoMakler”) and a provider number for each portal connection. The provider number can be any number — if you are the sole provider on your website, you would typically choose “1”.
Reference Properties
Section titled “Reference Properties”If you want to display already sold or rented properties as references on your website, export them to a separate subdirectory /openimmo/referenzen/. WP-ImmoMakler recognises this directory and automatically marks the contained properties as references.
